I found my husband's secret wedding photos to another woman while cleaning our attic.

My hands are still shaking as I type this out.

I don’t even know where to begin.

My life felt so perfect just yesterday.

Fifteen years we’ve been married, a solid, beautiful partnership.

Mark and I built everything together, from our cozy little house to our dreams for the future.

He was my rock, my best friend, the man who promised me forever.

Our anniversary was coming up next month, and I had been planning a surprise trip for us.

Yesterday, I decided to tackle the attic, a project I’d been putting off for months.

It’s always been our ‘storage of memories’ space, full of old boxes, forgotten treasures, and dusty heirlooms.

The morning sun streamed through the small attic window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air.

I was humming along to a playlist, feeling productive and lighthearted.

Most boxes were labeled: “Christmas decorations,” “Baby clothes,” “College textbooks.”

I found my husband's secret wedding photos to another woman while cleaning our attic.

Then, I found an unmarked wooden chest, tucked away behind some old camping gear.

It was heavy, made of dark, polished wood, not something I recognized as ours.

Curiosity piqued, I knelt, wiping away the thick layer of dust.

No lock, just a simple brass latch.

I flipped it open, expecting old tools or perhaps some of Mark’s childhood mementos I hadn't seen before.

Instead, nestled amongst layers of tissue paper, was a pristine white wedding dress.

My breath caught in my throat.

It wasn't mine.

My dress was a classic ivory, a flowing A-line, and this was a delicate lace sheath, clearly much more modern.

A cold dread began to seep into my bones.

My fingers, now trembling, reached inside the box, pushing past the rustling tissue.

Beneath the dress, wrapped in a silk scarf, was a velvet-bound photo album.

It looked expensive, the kind you’d have custom-made.

My heart hammered against my ribs, a frantic, warning drumbeat.

I pulled it out, the velvet cool against my clammy skin.

The first page showed a smiling couple, radiant under a floral arch.

It was Mark.

But the woman beside him was not me.

She was stunning, with dark, flowing hair and a joyous smile.

They were exchanging vows.

My vision blurred, but the images were sickeningly clear.

They were wedding photos.

My husband.

Another woman.

Another wedding.
