I saw them kissing at our favorite coffee shop and my world crumbled.

My heart is still doing that frantic little flutter in my chest, even hours later.

My hands are shaking so badly I can barely type this.

I don’t even know where to begin, or how to put into words the kind of pain that feels like a physical blow to your soul.

Today started like any other Tuesday.

The sun was shining, I had my usual morning coffee, and I even texted Mark, my husband of ten years, a goofy little meme about us being old and needing more sleep.

He texted back a heart emoji and "You're the best, babe."

Everything felt… normal.

Happy, even.

We had plans tonight, a quiet dinner at home, maybe watch that new show everyone’s talking about.

I had an errand to run downtown, near our favorite little coffee shop, "The Daily Grind."

It’s this cozy spot with mismatched chairs and the best almond croissants.

It’s where Mark and I had our third date, where he proposed, where we’ve spent countless Saturday mornings laughing over bad lattes.

It’s our place.

I walked in, a smile already forming on my face, looking forward to picking up a croissant for later.

The bell above the door jingled, announcing my arrival.

My eyes scanned the familiar space, looking for an empty table, or maybe a friendly barista.

And then I saw him.

Mark.

My Mark.

I saw them kissing at our favorite coffee shop and my world crumbled.

He was sitting at our usual corner table, the one by the big window.

But he wasn't alone.

There was a woman across from him.

She had long, dark hair, neatly styled, and she was laughing at something he’d said.

My stomach dropped before my brain even caught up.

A sudden, sharp lurch.

He had his hand casually resting on her arm, his thumb stroking her skin gently.

A gesture I knew intimately.

A gesture that belonged to me.

My breath hitched in my throat, a cold, icy dread creeping up my spine.

No, this couldn’t be right.

It had to be a work colleague, a client, a misunderstanding.

Mark travels a lot for work, he meets many people.

I tried to tell myself that.

But the way they were looking at each other, the easy familiarity, it was more than professional.

It was intimate.

Too intimate.

My feet felt glued to the floor, my heart pounding so hard I thought it might burst through my ribs.

I wanted to run, to scream, to disappear.

But I couldn't tear my eyes away.

Then, he leaned in.

Slowly.

Deliberately.

And he kissed her.

Not a peck on the cheek.

Not a friendly buss.

It was a full, lingering kiss on the lips.

Right there.

In our coffee shop.

In broad daylight.

My world shattered into a million tiny, irreparable pieces.

The sound of the coffee grinder, the gentle murmur of conversations, it all faded into a distant hum.

All I could hear was the deafening roar of betrayal in my ears.

My husband.

My best friend.

My rock.

The man who promised me forever.

He was kissing another woman.

The pain was so profound, so absolute, it felt like a physical wound.
