Just before our vows, the wedding videographer filmed my groom proposing to another woman.

This was supposed to be the happiest day of my life.

Every detail, from the rose petals to the string quartet, was perfect.

My heart pounded with a mix of nerves and overwhelming joy.

I’d spent months dreaming of this exact moment, walking towards Mark.

He was waiting for me at the altar, or so I thought.

The morning started like a fairy tale.

My bridesmaids buzzed around, helping me into my mother’s vintage lace gown.

The air smelled of fresh flowers and expensive perfume.

I felt beautiful, radiant, completely ready to say 'I do'.

Then, a knock on the dressing room door changed everything.

It was David, our videographer, looking strangely pale.

He mumbled something about a technical glitch he needed to show me.

I smiled, assuming it was a microphone issue or a lighting test.

My sister, Sarah, told him we were running out of time.

But David insisted, his eyes wide with an unspoken urgency.

He held up a small tablet, showing a raw, unedited clip.

The scene was outside the church, just an hour earlier.

Just before our vows, the wedding videographer filmed my groom proposing to another woman.

And there was Mark, my groom, standing by the old oak tree.

My initial thought was, "Oh, he’s having a moment of pre-wedding nerves."

He was talking to someone, a woman whose back was to the camera.

She had long, dark hair, unfamiliar to me.

A knot formed in my stomach, but I dismissed it as silly wedding jitters.

Then, the camera zoomed in slightly.

Mark’s hand moved, and I saw a small, velvet box.

My breath caught in my throat.

He got down on one knee.

The world tilted.

The sound disappeared, replaced by a roaring in my ears.

The woman turned her head slightly, enough for me to see her profile.

It was Emily, a co-worker I barely knew, someone Mark had introduced me to once at a Christmas party.

She was smiling, a radiant, almost triumphant smile.

She reached out, and Mark placed the ring on her finger.

The footage showed him kissing her hand, then her lips.

My heart shattered into a million icy pieces.

The beautiful dress felt like a suffocating shroud.

My legs gave out, and I crumpled onto the plush carpet.

Sarah screamed, snatching the tablet from David’s trembling hand.

“What IS this, David?!” she shrieked.

David, tears streaming down his face, could only stammer apologies.

He explained he was reviewing some early morning shots, checking angles.

He’d set up a remote camera near the oak tree for wide scenic shots.

It was supposed to be background filler, a pretty establishing shot.

He’d stumbled upon it entirely by accident.

A devastating, life-altering accident.

The room erupted into chaos.

My bridesmaids were crying, some shouting in disbelief.

My mother rushed in, her face contorted with confusion and then horror.

“My baby, what happened?” she wailed, clutching me.

I couldn’t speak.

The images were burned into my mind, a permanent scar.
