This was supposed to be the happiest day of my life.

I woke up that morning feeling like I was floating on air, the sunlight streaming through the lace curtains of the bridal suite.

Every detail was perfect, from the antique lace on my mother's gown, lovingly altered for me, to the tiny, sparkling rhinestones on my shoes.

My bridesmaids, my best friends since college, buzzed around me, their laughter a comforting symphony.

My heart literally ached with joy and anticipation as I looked at my reflection, a bride about to marry the man she adored.

He was everything I ever wanted: kind, funny, ambitious, and with a smile that could melt glaciers.

We had planned this day for two years, every moment meticulously crafted to perfection.

The historic chapel was adorned with thousands of white roses, their delicate perfume filling the air.

My father, looking so proud, squeezed my hand tightly as we waited for the doors to open.

Then, the organ music swelled, signaling my grand entrance.

A collective gasp went through the chapel as I began my walk down the aisle.

All I saw was him, Mark, standing at the altar, a tear glistening in his eye, his smile radiating pure love.

My fiancé's secret child crashed our wedding ceremony, shattering everything.

It felt like a dream, moving towards my future, towards him, towards forever.

I was halfway down the aisle when a commotion started near the back pew.

A faint murmur, then a louder whisper, rippled through the guests.

I tried to ignore it, my gaze fixed on Mark, but the murmuring grew insistent.

People started turning their heads, looking towards the chapel doors.

A small, hesitant voice cut through the sacred quiet, clear as a bell.

"Daddy?"

My heart stopped.

I instinctively turned, a knot forming in my stomach, a cold dread washing over me.

Standing just inside the chapel entrance, clutching the hand of a woman I didn't recognize, was a little boy.

He couldn't have been more than five or six, with Mark's exact sandy blonde hair and wide, blue eyes.

The woman beside him, her face a mixture of defiance and sadness, seemed to be holding him back, but his eyes were locked on Mark.

A hush fell over the entire congregation, heavy and suffocating.

Mark, who had been beaming moments before, now stood frozen, his face ashen, all the blood drained from it.

His eyes darted frantically between me, the boy, and the woman.

My father’s grip on my arm tightened almost painfully.

"What is this, Mark?" I whispered, my voice barely a tremor, my beautiful bouquet suddenly feeling like a dead weight.

The woman stepped forward, her voice low but carrying in the sudden silence.

"He's your son, Mark. And it's time everyone knew."

The words hit me like a physical blow, stealing my breath, shattering the perfect world I had just been walking into.

Son? Mark had a son?

A secret son?

My mind raced, reeling from the impossibility, the cruel, undeniable truth etched on the child's face.
